About Us
East Alabama Humane Society began as a foster based humane society with outdoor kennels in April 2009. Not long after, a warehouse building was donated, and is where we are currently located. Unfortunately, needed a lot of work to make it into a shelter facility. It took three years of fundraising, and renovating to complete. It was a constant struggle, since we had to rely on donations of labor and materials. Progress stopped multiple times due to lack of funding. In the end, after much hard work and dedicated efforts of volunteers, we opened for business in May 2012.
East Alabama Humane Society is consistently striving to provide the highest quality of care to all our animals, but the cost of operating an indoor/outdoor facility is financially straining. Our shelter is non-profit and relies heavily on donations and hardworking volunteers. We are dedicated to saving as many animals as possible from euthanasia; ideally re-homing them by matching them with a new loving family. With the help, support, and generosity of the Chattahoochee Valley community, we can continue to do so for many years to come.
